Called US today to check and see if we were upgraded (I am CP). On itn.net, it shows F7 P7 E0 A7 Y7 B7 M7 H7 Q7 S7 V7 W7 T7 L6 . They told me I was waitlisted because they are holding the inventory for sale. What's the deal with that? As a CP, hopefully I'll get upgraded at the gate, but why are they holding at least 7 seats (on a 767) for sale 1 week prior to the flight.

Any thoughts and suggestions?

They do tend to be ever the optimists on non-domestic flights. I didn't get upgraded to Frankfurt a while back until the day of departure, and there were about 9 of us in 42 seat Envoy.

I think they're still having that First Class Sale, and Cancun is one of those markets.

I'm booked to SJU on the A330. There were 32 seats open at the 7 day window (yesterday) but still E0. They said they are holding them because the flight is oversold by 20, yet they are still selling tickets.

She said there was a long list of CP on the waiting list for upgrades. She also said there were double the number of CP members this year than last (highly unlikely).

She did say they will reevaluate at the 3 day window, a la transatlantic.

I went down to Cancun in March.

Both origin and return opened up at the 3 day window.

Thanks for the thoughts. This makes me feel much better, especially that they may open up inventory at the 3 day window. If I don't get upgraded, I'll be quite unhappy considering I spend the $350 or so in the hopes I was going to get upgraded. If I new it was going to be difficult, I would have used the miles.
