I will be flying tonight PHL-LAS on US on the reconfigured 757. 5 1/2 hours in coach is not my idea of fun, but Vegas is at the end of the rainbow so it'll all be worth it.

I've consulted seatguru.com but I'm wondering if anyone here has any additional information. I am a fairly large person (6'3" 220+) and comfort is very important. I have secured seat 26D emergency row/bulkhead, but I am wondering if I wouldn't be better off in 8 or 9. Anyone with experience in these rows or with recommendations for the "ideal" coach seat.

Thanks

I highly suggest 9C. It's the old 8C.

I did that flight last week. I sat in 26A. I like windows so you can put your head against and sleep. I liked row 26. Plenty of legroom. Only problem with the aisle in row 26 is that some people think that is their waiting area while waiting for the bathroom. Also you are ij the way back so if you want to buy one of their meals, they usually run out.

9C is the gem IMHO.

While 9C is fine, IMO the best seats in coach are 8D & 8E.

You get expanded legroom, but without having to deal with people trampling over your feet getting in or standing around waiting for the lav. In addition, you get underseat and rear pocket storage (which 9 A,B & C do not have) and are still one of the first off of the plane.

8E also has a HUGE amount of elbow room and a handy spot to place a bag while packing or unpacking it (no 8F).

Hi there.....

I flew the newly configured 757 yesterday in from PIT to BWI, sitting in row 2 of the FC cabin. And to tell you the truth, Row 3 had more leg room than we had...something to do with the way the number of rows fit into the newly reconfigured cabin...but it appeared that there were about 10 extra inches that they left in front of Row 3 and between the bulkhead behind Row 2 of FC.

Just be aware of the three plus three seating....so pick either the window or aisle seats. And not that there is no underseat storage in front of you. But you can rest knowing that no one's tray table will tilt back onto your space possible knocking stuff off our open tray table (which is what basically happened to use in Row 2)

Good luck!

Just back from a r/t on 2 757s. Here's my take:

Outbound in 26D. LOVE the legroom. No underseat storage stinks but the stewardess closed and reserved the 2 overheads for row 26 passengers ahead of time. . . good service! People waiting for the lav were annoying, but my giant legs sticking all the way out in front of me generally forced them to wait in front of row 26 on the other side of the aisle.

Return in 8D. LOVE the legroom. There is underseat storage but it's so far away that you actually have to get out of the seat to grab something! Not complaining though. Terrible positioning for watching the movie, the screen is directly on top and the next is too far away. People waiting for lav weren't as annoying or in-my-business as in 26, but, as seatguru.com said, 9E climbs up and over to get to the lav, which is annoying. Love being the first off the plane.

First class is Tiny! Senior flight attendant told me that they have been informed that US is once again reconfiguring the 757 FC. They are now adding back to more rows for a total FC of 16.
