I'm booked to fly from CLT to CDG on May 21, back on May 30; 767's all the way (yanked the 330 out from under me!).

I had them pull 120,000 (30,000 x 4 for mrs. dingo and i) for upgrades on the flights but it hasn't cleared as of yet.

I looked last night and it looks like there are 13 and 7 seats for PHL - CDG, CDG - PHL respectively. I'm a CP and mrs. dingo is a GP so I've got SWU's to use.

Any thoughts on me having them put the miles back in my account and just going with the SWU's at this point? If not now, when...would I wait until 7 days out and see if they free up more inventory?

I was kind of looking forward to using some miles due to US's situation, but if I can use my SWU's I might as well.

I'd keep the miles and use vouchers..im sure the availablity will be fine, given the fact that no one got vouchers in this round of preferred mailings. I've never not cleared as a CP.

Save the miles. As a CP w/ a GP companion, use your SWU certs. I can not imagine that you would not clear.

My recomendation: Call the CP desk and have them redeposit your miles. Call a few days later (make sure the miles are back in your account - why temp confusion? You have time on your side...) and ask for your reservations to be put in-line for upgrades at your 7 day CP window. Chances are you will still not clear at the 7 day window. Then follow the usual routine of calling back daily to be told "no" until you finally clear at the gate to find a half-empty Envoy cabin. ;)

...as they will frequently open up seats for CP and their companions at the three day window. That's an unpublished benefit of CP. Good luck!

Thanks for the help folks.

If I have them re-deposit the miles and just try to get my CP upgrade, don't I run the risk of missing out completely?

So many options...

They seem to have been less and less willing to do this recently. I'd still call but this doesn't seem to be working as much as it used to. :(

Well, you do either way - neither upgrading with miles or certs is definite!

Paying for the Envoy seats (or paying the full coach fares and upgrading now if inventory will allow it) seems to be the only sure bet, right?

Save the 120k miles and use your certs. IMO, you will clear even if it is at the gate both ways.
