There is directly by that little Mall square a fish restaurant in a cave. You have to walk down steep steps, fresh fish grilled in a BBQ in the cave. I am a spoiled fish eater, but this was absolut top of the line http://www.flyertalk.com/dining/ftdining_forum/smile.gif Plus..its a rather charming setting, next to the ocean, you can feel the mist. During season you probably can see the whales passing by.

The place is Bietangs Cave. You can see dolphins frequently and whales within spitting distance in season. The food in all my visits has been mediocre and is overpriced for the tourists.Go for brews and views.

Very good, can highly recommend it. As good as the better value restaurant across the street above a golf store called the MEDITERREA.


Another recommendation for Hermanus New Harbour: The Harbour Rock - fish restaurant. Nice bar/pub next door where the mostly white locals hang out after work.
