You may want to try these places from a
Time Out (http://www.timeout.com/buenosaires/shop.xml?ar=7&cg=2) review
Buenos Aires' soft and creamy ice-cream has been influenced by the Italian gelato. Look for shops that sell 'Helados Artesanales'; this guarantees you that it's home-made with fresh ingredients. There are light versions available, and in Abasto you can even find kosher ice-cream.
Freddo
Avenida Coronel Díaz 2691, entre Cerviño y Cabello, Palermo (4803 0520/delivery 0800 3337 33336). Bus 10, 59, 60, 92, 102.
Open 11am-1am Mon-Thur, Sun; 11am-2am Fri; 11am-3am Sat.

Legendary for representing the high standards of Argentina's ice-cream industry. Unfortunately, a few years ago, Freddo changed ownership and today its double d's are closer to the standards of the golden arches. Still worthy for its dulce de leche and sambáyon (zabaglione), though.
Branches: throughout the city.
El Lido Heladería
Avenida Pueyrredón 2100, y JM Gutiérrez, Recoleta (4806 5832/4807 2204). Bus 10, 37, 60, 92, 102.
Open from 10am daily.
No credit cards.
Home-crafted with the finest products, so fresh you can taste it. Try the raspberry, made with fresh berries from El Bolsón in Patagonia.

When I head down there I'm going to visit one of these places and perhaps comment about it.
