We are staying in Mex City and driving to and from GDL. Any suggestions to go to or to avoid would be appreciated.

Your post is from long time ago but for whoever readds this. I would say to avoid the place call "La hacienda de los Morales". Is supposed to be one of the best places to eat in Mexico but my food was just ok. (and for $30 + it was well overpriced) The environ is very nice. I guess you pay to be in a nice place but if it is food what you are looking for, go elsewhere.
