For those of you who may be visiting the lovely Emerald City, here are some of my favorite eating places throughout the city (not intended to be a complete list) :

For a drink (especially in the summer) - Pink Door - good Italian food as well (downtown area)
Place Pigalle (in the market)
Cafe Campagne (just as good and lots cheaper than Campagne)
Restaurante Paraidsio (Italian) - Kirkland
Sostanza's (Italian/fresh fish) - Madison Park
Wild Ginger - Thai (downtown)
Thai Ginger - Redmond, Bellevue (low priced, decent Thai)
Le Medusa - fresh/good food - Columbia City
Harvest Vine - wine and tapas - Madison Valley
Ray's Boathouse - seafood (Shilshoe Bay - gorgeous at sunset in the summer!)
Brunch: Julia's - Wallingford, Madison Park
Cafe Flora - vegetarian
Cafe - Madison Park
Mediterranean - Adriatica
Southwest - Tex/Mex - Cactus
Pizza - Coyote Creek, Pagliacci, Piecora (for those of you from New York who have a craving)

And for those of you on an "unlimited business expense account" http://www.flyertalk.com/dining/ftdining_forum/smile.gif

There were a bunch of posts on FlyersPlaces about Seattle Dining. Patience will bring more!

I swear that in the big scheme of dining "hot spots," Seattle is woefully underrated. I've been to so many great restaurants where I want to go back, yet I never get back because there is another restuarant to try that ends up being great too.

A subject near and dear to my heart!
Might I add:

For a drink - Marcus - (Pioneer Square)
Etta's (in the market)
Third Floor Fish Cafe (Seafood) - Kirkland
Noodle Ranch - Thai/Vietnamese (Belltown)
Nikko -- Sushi (the best in the city, Westin Hotel)
Coastal Kitchen -- Capital Hill
Matt's In The Market - Pike Place Market
Breakfast: Lowell's - Pike Place Market (unadulterated view of Puget Sound & all its glory)
Brunch: Macrina Bakery (Belltown)
COFFEE: Uptown Espresso or Lladro (basically across the street from each other on Lower Queen Anne)

just a few more for the list....

Axis (Belltown) - has a great cabernet marinated flank steak.

Spazzo (Bellevue) - great happy hour tapas and fabulous sangria

Il Bacio (Redmond) - makes a mean gnocchi

Little Bit of Saigon (International Dist) - if you need a to add some asian to your diet.

Wallys (Des Moines) fish&chips and AWESOME chowder, just minutes from SeaTac airport.

How about Dahlia Lounge? We had one of the best meals ever there about a year ago.

A few more from the locals ...

Indian: Bengal Tiger (65th and Roosevelt near Green Lake) or Chutneys (Wallingford, Queen Anne, Capitol Hill).

Burgers: Two Bells Tavern (Belltown)

Drinks on a summer night: The Cloud Room (top floor of the Camlin Hotel downtown)

Tapas: Marcha (downtown)

I'd also strongly echo the endorsment of Noodle Ranch!

I lived in Seattle for several years and what I miss most is Metropolitan Grill.

Just thought I'd update this list:

Place Pigalle serves dinner starting at 6 PM on Fridays, but you can go in earlier for a WONDERFUL view and great drinks. Bartender is extremely nice!

Also, had dinner at Cafe Campagne this weekend as well - as always, wonderful! Much more reasonable than Campagne IMO.

Little Bit of Saigon is awful but you see it recommended often along with Pho Bac, very dirty and someone posted on City Search not to worry about the germs that are there because the high temperature kills them all. Yummmm.
Try Vietnam's Pearl for authentic Vietnamese dishes served family style (not Pho).
Also, Pho is really good but don't believe any of the hype from these places.

Thanks to missy's post, I have been experiencing some of the "finer dining" in Seattle. For what it's worth, here are my observations:

Cafe Campagne - wonderful! Excellent food, wine list was very well thought out with many good choices; service was superb. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anybody who is looking for a good dining experience and not on an expense account. Although Campagne (upstairs) is wonderful; Cafe Campagne is more relaxed and not as stuffy.

Andaluca - excellent food (had the prix fixe dinner last night). The atmosphere is elegant and comfortable (the restaurant is adjacent to the Mayflower Hotel and has FREE valet parking!). The wine list is OK; very pricey for what is offered. The service was at best fair. Was with two other friends, we had spent a bit of $$ for dinner and were catching up/relaxing. There were three other tables occupied by this point. The waiter, came up and said, "I'll have the valet get your cars" The place was 2 hours away from their posted closing time. *rolled eyes*

Yarrow Bay Grill - great view (get a window table), excellent food, good wine list (not great, but you can definitely find a good choice on the list), very good service.

If your looking for Take-out Thai, or just a sit down dinner/lunch, I'd suggest Rama on Post, which, is something like 83 Post, basically a block below First Ave, on Spring. It's great for lunch if you work in the area (as I do). I also have to suggest for pizza, Pagliacci, the best around. And, I'll easily double or triple the Wild Ginger advisories, it's great Pan-Asia food.

Just a suggestion - Assaggio. 4th and Virginia. Northern Italian food - absolutely wonderful in ALL Ways - great food, good wine selection (ask for the wines by the glass since they aren't listed on the menu itself),great atmosphere (you feel so warm and welcomed here) and wonderful service. Very nice meal. Definitely need reservations if dining on a weekend night.

Note: Cross-posted in FT Travel but SweetWillie suggested posting here as well.
