I searched and found a year-old thread, but was wondering if anyone had any recent experiences here? I've got reservations in a couple of weeks.

Thanks in advance.

I've had dinner at DHG a couple of times in the past 6 months so I guess I can answer your question.

I really liked the restaurant before it changed to the DHG however, DHG is good too. The service at the restaurant is still very attentive. The lighting is very dim. There is live music on the weekends. However, the bar is the "in" place to hang out so it gets crowded with "beautiful people". Live music + lots of people = noise.

The first time I had dinner there, I ordered the house smoked salmon to start. It came on this huge plate and was superb. My husband and I shared the grilled pork chops. This was a good idea since the two huge pork chops came on another big platter. I didn't have room for dessert after that meal.

The second time I had dinner there, the menu had changed. My house smoked salmon was gone so I skipped the appetizer. I ordered the seared Ahi for my entree and my friend ordered some type of beef steak. Both our entrees were delicious and perfectly cooked. We had the chocolate souffle cake for dessert which was rich and yummy.

Beware that the alcoholic drinks tend to be strong. I've had a margarita that made the room spin!

Have a good time there.

I had breakfast at the DHG twice and dinner once while a guest at the W. Enjoyed all three meals a great deal -- very good food and excellent service all around. Definitely recommend it. There's one night a week when they try to move out some of their old wine inventory by cutting the price in half -- you might want to look into that. I wouldn't worry about not being beautiful enough for the bar. After all, no one gave me a hard time. http://www.flyertalk.com/dining/ftdining_forum/smile.gif

Even if you're not staying at the W, be sure to keep your receipt and submit it for Starpoints.

I loved this restaurant when it was David Paul's and was very pleasantly suprised to still like it after the hotel took it over. The bar is beautiful as is the dining room and the food was quite good.

It can be quite a "scene" on Friday and Saturday nights and very difficult to get into even for a drink w/o a reservation or if not staying at the hotel.

Just spent a Free Friday at the Diamond W and ate at the DHG for dinner and breakfast. Dinner was very good, not as good as when the restaurant was David Paul's, but still very good. Started with the buffalo mozzarella and Hau'ula tomatoes which was fresh and delicious. The seafood linguine was packed with seafood and very well seasoned. I decided to skip my usual chocolate lava cake (if you want this, order early since it takes at least 20 min) and go with the jasmin rice pudding in a plantain cup. It was smooth and light. Prices for dinner are in the high range.

I noticed that they've added more bars for Fri and Sat nights. There is the regular bar/lounge, one set up by the kitchen, one set up in the lobby, and one set up in the room used for private functions. There is a $10 cover charge after 10 p.m. if you aren't staying at the hotel.

Breakfast had the usual fare, but is much more reasonably priced than dinner.

Service at breakfast and dinner was superb.
