It's easy to find a good steak in this town (from prime strip to chicken fried), but if you're craving NYC-style deli food, there's only one place to go.

Gilbert's New York Deli is located along restaurant row in Addison, at 4930 Beltline Rd., justa block or two from the Tollway.

First and foremost are the sandwiches (about $8). The corned beef, brisket and pastrami are easily the best in town, and it's an "honest" sandwich NYC standards - about 1.5-2" of meat between the bread, and unsullied by lettuce, tomato or other blasphemy. Get it on rye, of course, with mustard or russian dressing, and you'll think you've been transported 1389 miles to the northeast. If you're really hungry, get a combo or get your favorite served "manhattan style", overstuffed for $11.

Other deli favorites are solid as well. Matzoh ball soup, goulash, potato pancakes are all very good. Knishes are just so-so. They carry lots of NY deli staples that are hard to find elsewhere (tounge, chopped liver, sable, whitefish salad).

I'm getting hungry just typing this.

Casual, diner-like environment, and a separate counter for take out orders, if you want to get it to go and head back to your hotel. A great lunch spot. For dinner, they close early, around 8:30 I think, and they're closed on Mondays and on some Jewish holidays.
