We enjoyed an excellent lunch at this Vietnamese restaurant yesterday. It is located @ 144 Shield Street in a strip mall off of New Britain Avenue. We shared a bowl their special "Boston Pho" a beef noodle soup, with slices of rare beef, scallion, cucumber, tomatoes, onion and cilantro. It is accompanied by a plate of bean sprouts, basil, lime and chili. This soup was so rich and complex with sate adding an extra kick. We also shared a dish of sauteed chicken with chinese celery, broccoli, red pepper, carrots and onions. The vegetables and fresh herbs used in both dishes were wonderfully fresh and crisp. Prices are quite reasonable and it was quite busy with many customers appearing to be Vietnamese. Pho Boston is large, unprentious and offers a full bar. I did not note the hours of operation, but I believe it is opened 7 days per week.
In the same shopping center are several stores catering to the local Asian population including a very large Vietnamese supermarket. The selection and quality appeared very high when I took a quick walk through.
