Eating report...
Contary to popular belief, a reservation was not hard to get. I called the night before for a saturday dinner for two.
The place is very european, much like the rest of Boston. For a minute I thought I was in a michilin restaurant in the outskirts of paris. Sure felt like it.
Our coats were taken by a very cute coat boy, and we were escorted to our table, which I had requested in the main room (salon).
All and well, the only problem the place was crammed and the tables were so close together it was hard to have a private conversation. The seats in the salon were not that comfortable, (later I went upstairs and looked at the other rooms and found better tables I could have sat at).
Dinner was price fixed $68 bucks a person, which guarentees them a certain amount of revenue for the restaurant I guess. Champ and vino are extra. And yes they do have an extensive wine list, quite impressive. Last time I saw a wine list that good was at the old Le cirque in NYC.
Food came with some small apatizers and intro tastings, followed by first course, main course, cheese, deesert and coffee.
Quite a show. Too much for my tummy to take and I left with a tummy ache and was offered bitters with tea (nice gesture, it worked).
Our waiter, kept getting our orders mixed up, and we sometimes had to switch dishes, but it worked out.
Overall impressive, long, and delightful. I when you get there, insist on sitting on a comfortable seat because the service is long.
It's french so portions are small. My dinner companion and I thought that we might want to visit Burger King down the street, but by the time my soufle came, we wondered how we ever got away eating fast food.
Check came out to $289 + tip, I had a few glasses of bubbly. Caviar and lemon is extra.
