I recently visited Primanti Brothers at the Strip District to have my first Primanti’s sandwich. I chose the steak and cheese, which the employees say is the most popular. The sandwich was served to me on wax paper, with cole slaw, tomatoes, french fries, cheese and steak stuffed between two large slices of Italian bread.

I don’t normally eat much red meat, but the abundance of fresh, crisp cole slaw and tomatoes, along with the delicious bread and French fries, balanced well with the flavorful steak. The cheese was perfectly gooey, too.

Overall, I found the entire Primanti’s experience very enjoyable. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious. I now know why the chain is so well-known, and I can’t wait to visit again and try another Primanti’s creation.

Great Pittsburgh Tradition.

PitHeel, Primanti's is a true Burgh original! While there are 5 or 6 locations in the Burgh, the location in The Strip is the real deal. Home to Pittsburgh's produce and fresh food wholesalers, as well as all of the associated truck drivers, the sandwich was invented to allow the drivers to eat the whole "meal" while driving.

I would distinguish national chains from local chains for those who don't like chains.

Thanks for the memories!!

Edit to add: Try the capaicola and cheese!
