Has anybody dined at the Sooke Harbor House on Vancouver Island?
It did not fit into our plans this time, but next time for sure.
I understand the chef grows all his own herbs, quite a few vegatables and dives for some of his seafood.

Yes.
We're frankly a bit schizo about the place - the food is very good, dishes beautifully presented, setting lovely, wine list extensive, everything fresh, recipes innovative.
Also... portions microscopic, menu limited, prices astronomic (wine cosmic) and the place is rather full of itself. The owner (she) is a wonderful, warm lady - we had dessert in the guest's lounge aka the family's dining room, and chatted with this charming person for hours.
One thing about the Sooke Harbour House is that the insistence on seasonal and local ingredients is great in the summer and autumn, but in midwinter it means root vegetables a go-go. So if you go call ahead to see what's cooking. If you stay there and don't want what they're serving, there are zeeero alternatives in Sooke and it's a 45 min. ride to Victoria.

I still believe I want to dine here!
Thanks for the review. ^
