Ate at a few different places in Tofino.

West Coast Crab Bar has a small quaint atmosphere and some good food.

Normally I remember names of restaurants but there are two in Tofino that escape me.

The first is a deli that is on the left hand side of the street that goes down to the seaplane pier. We had some very good and unique sandwiches here. This deli also serves great bakery items.

The second is a Japanese/Sushi place on the road that skirts Tofino Harbor. We had two types of sushi here that were very good: lobster and crab. The warm miso soup was quite tasty after getting chilled on the whale watch boat.

from Gourmet mag (oct 04), there is a purple catering truck in Tofino called SoBo. Serving such items such as fish tacos of wild salmon and halibut topped with fresh berry salsa; smoked oysters and green papaya slaw; shrimp cakes with fresh herbs and mustard sauce.

ACtually - I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't been to Tofino.

I hear a calling though....

sobo serves great food, and the garden is nice, even if it is raining!
The pizza available from the hotel just off the highway as you enter Tofino town (sorry, can't recall the name) is excellent! A great filler up after surfing! and, open late on Christmas (aren't you all going over to go winter surfing?)

Ucluelet has some nice eats too - try the coffee house for sandwiches - can't recall the exact name - newer place, right hand side of the road into Ucluelet - up a very short steep driveway (if you have doubts about driving up, you found the right place!) - excellent hippie style (organic stuffs!) sandwiches!
