Hello All,
Taking the sharing cue from Sweet Willie...n.b Toronto is my home town...
This place is not in the downtown area of YYZ. There are a couple of locations but I am only really familiar with the one in 'North York', the 'Markham; one is pretty good too and would be good if you are in town in the Tech area north of YYZ (ie Markham, Richmond Hill, maybe even Vaughan).
They are all run by the same family/owners (my understanding) so the quality is pretty good in all.
Congee Wong
North York location - Leslie & Finch (NE corner beside the mall)
Markham - 3235 Hwy 7, 905-474-1844
This is the 'typical' Hong Kong noodle/congee restaurant but with decor that is nice. It wouldn't be worth mentioning but it is actually nicer than most 'noodle houses'.
Food recommends are the congees and just make sure you order the right stuff as some of the meats can be quite interesting. Also I am partialy to the 'Fried Turnip Cake' which is wok-fried with chili-flakes and bay shrimp. It is a littly on the greasy side (cf with Burger King fries from the 80s) but oh so tasty! The fried noodles (rice verm, rice flat and normal) are all quite good too.
I would stay off the BBQ meat/rices as they are ok but not the outstanding items on the menu.
