Hello All,
Taking the sharing cue from Sweet Willie...n.b Toronto is my home town...
Goldstone Noodle Restaurant
266 Spadina Avenue
(South of Spadina+Dundas - Chinatown Downtown)
416.596.9053
open pretty late like most Chinatowns
It is a typical 'Hong Kong' noodle and BBQ house. There is an open noodle kitchen and open BBQ chopping area. The kitchen in back does 'mains' and fried rice/noodles/etc.
My wife and I go about 2x a month when we are in the area (or she picks me up from the airport which is anoth 2-3x a month). Our favorites are the BBQ meat and white rice plate.
The BBQ Pork, Roast Pork, Soya Duck are all very good and you can get 1 of them (or a combo of 2) on a plate of rice. The fried noodle (chow mein) is good but if you get the 'House Special' fried noodles there is going to be toppings that are worthy of SIN/HKG/BKK such as recognisable squid/octopus plus shrimp, scallops, BBQ pork, vegetables. It's a toss up. My wife life the 'Shredded Meat and Bean Sprouts on Fried Noodles'. Nice crispy noodles which aren't too greasy and a decent amount of topping.
Also for those HKG familiar you can get a pretty decent cup of 'cream tea' or 'Hong Kong Style Tea'. The 'Yin-Yang' is worth of HKG too.
Cheers!
