Seryna - located on the 52nd floor of the grey, angular Shinjuku Sumitomo Building (2-6-1 Nishi-Shinjuku)just across the street from the Hilton Tokyo-Shinjuku.
Has great city views (mt. fuji in winter).
Restaurant is divided into two areas, one for teppenyaki and one for sukiyaki, shabu-shabu.
We ate the Sukiyaki made with Kobe beef.
Wonderful!!!! Mouth Watering.
Bill came to $120 US.

The original branch is located in Roppongi. Very good quality Teppanyaki, shabu shabu, or sukiyaki (though, it is a bit large & touristy).

I believe I saw that location from the window of a taxi.
This location in Shinjuku, I would not say was touristy at all. We were the only non-asians in the place for dinner. Just FYI

My definition of touristy in Tokyo means there might be few non-Asians. I think of it as "touristy" (perhaps a poor choice of words) because it is very large and kind of glitzy. However, it is an entirely respectible place for Japanese businessmen to take out other Japanese for high class entertaining. I've enjoyed several very good meals there. However, all other things being equal, I prefer a more traditional Japanese atmosphere and smaller, intimate environment.

I think Seryna has the best beef for the buck. The shabu shabu is awesome and they use Matsutake beef. The beef almost starts to disintegrate in open air since it is so delicate. I'd recommend getting the Prime Beef Course for dinner, although its a bit pricey. You will be in paradise.
Also, for all that live in Tokyo, next time you are there, request a VIP card. You get 5% off all your future meals and promotional mailers. Last time, I got a 20% off coupon I used during golden week plus the 5% VIP discount.

Do they have a place in Ginza also? I think that was the name of the place my wife and I went to in Ginza for kobe beef shabu shabu. It was first rate in any case. If it is the same group I certainly attest to the quality. Do they have a place in Manhattan also?

I went to the Seryna in Roppongi about 7 years ago with Bob Morgan (The Memphis Belle Pilot) and a Japanese friend (on his dime) and while the food was fantastic I don't know if I would call it a good value. The basic meals for dinner are about 20,000 yen before drinks.

I don't think they have a Ginza location. Zakuro and Nadaman are major shabu shabu/sukiyaki places in Ginza.
