Nobu, located at 6-10-17 Minami Aoyama, phone
03/5467-0022, is the sister restaurant to the Nobu in New York (I don't know which came first, I assume Tokyo?).
Dinner was awesome.
Started with a ginger/sake infused martini, wife had the Aoi, a sweeter yet refreshing drink.
Aps were a scallop sushi (devine) w/a light vinegar marinade. Wife had the Tuna Ceviche (yum).
Main course for me was a Kobe fillet w/light teriyaki sauce. (I know, not too inventive, but that Kobe beef is amazing).
Wife had a duck and vegatable dish, duck done to a medium rare (very good).
Dinner w/drinks came to 120 US$.

Nobu in NY was first.
I've been there a couple of times and thought is was pretty good and not unreasonably priced by Japanese standards.

I have being to the Nobu @ New York, London and Tokyo.
I find all of them are pretty good however the NY one is the best.
I remember the one @ Tokyo is not really convenient and I need to take a Cab (which was EXPENSIVE when compared to NYC). I was staying at the Westin @ Yebisu Garden Palace which was sort of close to there.

Nobu in NY was first.
Actually, Nobu Matsuhisa's first restaurant is in LA called Matsuhisa. NYC's Nobu, I believe, is the second one. Thinking that all the Nobus have basically the same menu items, I chose not to go to the one in Tokyo. The one in NYC is next to impossible to get into (Next Door Nobu helps) whereas the one in Vegas can be had by walking in.
I am totally in love with Nobu's dishes like yellowtail jalapeno, hot oil sashimi, rock shrimp, toro caviar, kobe beef, miso cod, etc. To die for :)
I don't think I've ever left Nobu for less than $100/pp. Then again, all those saketinis do add up :D

The question above was which "Nobu" was first. That is NY. As you pointed out, his earlier restaurant in LA is called Matsuhisa. It's somewhat different in atmosphere than the Nobu restaurants I've been to. Personally, I think they are tasty but overpriced for what they are. The Tokyo Nobu is more of a scene than a fine food place. For the same money you can get better food elsewhere. Depends what you are looking for.
