Cosmopolitan goes crosstown and casual
If Cozmo's Corner Grill looks a little familiar it's because the new Marina restaurant is owned by the same people who own Cosmopolitan Cafe.
Cozmo's opened last week in the space formerly occupied by Marina Central and Faultline Brewery. There's been yet another face-lift, including a new square bar at the entrance like its Spear Street cousin.
The menu may give patrons a sense of deja vu as well; it's the work of chef and co-owner Steven Levine. Chef de cuisine Max Martinez executes the dishes.
Those sitting at the bar can nibble on Gorgonzola-stuffed fried olives or a modest pile of calamari with a barbecue dipping sauce. Starters include a Caesar salad with a sprinkling of chile powder and polenta croutons, and a thin-crusted pizza topped with prosciutto and Crescenza cheese.
Entrees follow a similar simple path, with three wedges of seared tuna drizzled with harissa aioli and served with garbanzo bean "fries," and slices of flatiron steak served with a baked potato and truffle butter.
For dessert, customers can enjoy the same baked-to-order chocolate chip cookies served with a frothy vanilla malt that are so popular at Cosmopolitan Cafe. .
Cozmo's Corner Grill, 2100 Chestnut St. (at Fillmore), San Francisco; (415) 351-0175. Dinner nightly, brunch weekends. Starters, $3.50-$7; entrees, $10- $26 (for roasted chicken for two); desserts, $6.
