Manny’s serves the best corned beef sandwich in all of Chicagoland IMO, large, flavorful and good! There are other decent delis in the Chicagoland area, but none as good as Manny’s.

Manny’s still looks like it is from the 40’s with trays that you grab and run along cafeteria style in front of your choices. The plate lunches are very good (fond of the lamb shank and smelts), but I usually head to the middle of the counter to grab a corned beef on rye. Don’t worry, it is perfectly acceptable to take your tray and bypass those waiting for their plate lunches if getting a sandwich.

We'll I'll be darned, a place like Manny's can change.

Gone is the paint hand written menu board, replaced with a new plastic one.

Today I split my pastrami sandwich w/a friend who got the oxtails over kasha.

Pastrami is ok, I much prefer the corned beef at Manny's.

The oxtails over kasha were TASTY!!!

In all my years in the Chicago area I've never been to Manny's.

My favorite corned beef sandwich used to be at Braverman's on Chicago Ave. Quite frankly I'm not sure whether it was the taste or size of the sandwich. Wow, that sandwich, still to this date is/was the largest I ever used to get.

Being that I grew up in Deerfield (now moved away), I was a frequent visitor to Max and Benny's. However in my opinion, the corned beef sandwich at Manny's Deli blows Max and Benny's away. Trust me, it's worth the ride down to Manny's. Try the potato pancake too, they are out of this world.

Manny's has always been my fave spot for corned beef. I agree with the potato pancakes. In fact, I try to get an extra one whenever I go. http://www.flyertalk.com/dining/ftdining_forum/biggrin.gif

Manny's is incredible, and I have this feeling if I went back in time 20 years it would be the same place with the same people working in it.

I had a Reuben with Potato Pancakes this afternoon for lunch, it is unbelievable. I'll definately be back there the next time I'm in Chicago. I'm curious how the one at Midway Airport compares with the original. Even if it is half as good as the original location it would still be exceptional.

I my opinion, far better than Manny's is the Vienna Beef Factory Store and Deli at 2501 N. Damen. But then, what do I know - never seen what all the excitement is about Manny's?

Hmm, that's all of a mile from my place and I've never been there. Must try this weekend. I'm assuming a kosher shop would be closed on Saturday, any idea if they're open Sunday?
