Sweet Willie
Dec 10, 01, 4:10 pm
Cafe LaGuardia, Located 1/2 mile west of the Kennedy Expressway (90/94) on Armitage Avenue.
Open 11am-11pm+ 7 days per week.
Very small restaurant (14 tables).
Started out w/the beef empanada. I just love crusts and beef fillings, nice spices.
Then it was the ropa vieja (shredded beef) with rice and red beans. I expected more spice in the ropa vieja, but it was
still very good (burp, there it is again). The side of sweet plantains were perfect (ripe, sweet, great texture).
did not have the yucca, but it comes recommended.
I took a cuban sandwich to go for a buddy of mine. I am a huge fan of sandwiches and the cuban is in the top 5 for me, however the cuban from Cafe La Guardia I can not recommend. The ham was too too salty, roast pork did not have enough spice in it and there were not enough condiments on it.
All in all a very very satisfying meal. Cost was $16 with a beer.
