No surprise about Totonno's. I've never been to their place in Bklyn which is supposed to be so good, but their new place in my neighborhood on 2d Ave is just ordinary.

My vote is for John's. They have several locations in Manhattan and the pizza is excellent. The last time I was there I had 7 slices to my friend's amazement. I couldn't control my self because it was so good. By the way, I weigh only 165 pounds, so don't ask where I put it all.

I can't verify this, but I always heard that the real Rays was "Famous Rays of Greenwich Village" on (I think) 6th Ave and W 12th St.

I remember we had an "Office Boredom Challenge" to determine which Ray's is the true original, and I think we determined that it was indeed the "Famous Rays of Greenwich Village" on 6th Ave. I believe it was on the citysearch site before they neutered it.
BTW: Never been here, but what a funny name -- Not Ray's Pizzeria (http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/7359892/).

Sorry Doc, Totonno's is mediorce.
Best Sicilian Pizza in NY is L&B Spumoni Gardens on 86th street in Bensonhurst, it's the best hands down.

I did a little research. It seems that there's been an on going battle on who is the original rays pizza. After searching many websites and visiting a few of them myself. I have come to the conclusion that not only does it have the best tasting pizza, but, (and the proof is there) they actually have the US Reg Trademark on the name. This is the one at 27 Prince Street. (It's also older than the others) The actual name is trickey, it's "The Original Ray's", other that try to copy have names like "The one and original..." or "The first and only...." etc.
