I am struggling with the idea of parking my car at KIX or at a nearby hotel for 2 weeks. Does anyone know if the rates are reasonable for long-term parking? Or maybe a hotel that offers reduced rates nearby?

Ok - I found the info on the website. It is about 2000 yen per day for long term parking. Does anyone know of something cheaper?

For those who are interested. If you stay at The Ramada Kansai (around 10,000 yen for a night), guests get two weeks FREE parking. This is a bargain.

Indeed! Monthly parking was Y30,000 for a compact when I lived in Tokyo.

Sorry to bump a three year old thread, but can anyone offer some more tips/info? I'll be heading home to MSY in a few weeks and am playing with the idea of driving down to KIX instead of fumbling with all my luggage on the JR.

You could always do as the Japanese do and send your luggage to KIX by takkyuubin. It averages about ¥2000 per bag.

If you really want to drive your own car and your objective is "ease":
http://www.k-a-s.com/

They offer a premium service where you drop your car at the airport - then they drive it to a parking lot across the bridge on the mainland - and make sure its back at the airport for you on your return date.

Another option would be to do a one-way car rental - drop the car off at the rental spot in front of the Aero Plaza at KIX and then walk across the bridge to the terminal. (I have done this once - and it's remarkable how close the rental locations are to the terminal. No messing around with bus connections from rental company lots etc.)

But even with these options, I can't think of many situations where I would prefer to drive to KIX. If I had a lot of luggage, I'd be inclined to go with the Takkyubin option that Ksandness mentioned...
