Does anyone know if BKK has good quality, cheap alcohol for sale in Duty Free, or would I be better off buying stuff stateside?
Specifically, I need to buy good (French) champagne and take it to a friend's wedding in Calcutta...
Thanks muchly!

Ridiculously expensive prices (due to high taxes in Thailand). Duty-free prices for spirits there are 80% higher than the taxed price where I am (B.C.) which is not cheap.

I wonder if this means that bringing in a few miniatures for private consumption would be punished instead of ignored if discovered by customs?

Even if you packed two suitcases to bursting, if you look respectable and are polite, you probably would not have to break stride as you handed your customs form to the officer. If they did stop you, there other techniques...

One minus point is also that USD was quoted instead of local Baht especially in the inflight sales.
