What is a safe connection time if I'm flying CNX-BKK on TG, then connecting to a CX flight to HKG?
The flights will be on separate tickets (both bus. class, but they need to be separate for client billing purposes). I will have baggage to be checked, so presumably I'll need to collect the bags and get them to the CX counter.

If you are checking bags at Don Muang, I would personally want about 2.5 hrs, but I am somewhat conservative, though you should be OK with 1.5 to 2 hours. Unless there are problems with the inbound flight, getting to T2 is fairly quick, and outbound Thai immigration is generally fast. The CX business checkin lines shouldn't have too much of a delay, but you never know...

How long would be reasonably safe for a domestic-international transfer with carry-on only? I'm trying to work out a decent CNX-BKK-SIN connection so I can catch TG's last flight out at 1915, but on the low-fare carriers I appear to have only the unpalatable choice of arriving at either 1020 or 1830... and I don't think 45 minutes will cut it. :(

Answering myself: I ended up landing at 1710 (domestic) for a flight at 1830 (T2). I picked up a bag from storage in the dom terminal, hiked through the 500m bridge to T2, and completed checking in, emigration and exit customs (= none) by 1730.
So on a good day you could probably manage a connection in one hour, although I'd leave more buffer if the connection was critical.

Sorry about this; advice would be very welcome; Arrive BKK on TG T1 at 2125 KUL to BKK; depart LH to FRA Term 2 at 2310 all C all Star Gold; presumably we can check luggage through? Is 1hour 45mins enough. Thanks

Given that you are flying *A. Should be able to get your bags checked through FRA. Don't go through immigration at BKK but head for the transfer desk. Might be quite a bit of a walk to the desk and to the gate however but plenty of time even if your flight is a bit late.

Here's a related question.
I'm flying Chaing Mai-BKK-Siem Reap (Cambodia).
The BKK-REP flight on Bangkok Airways leaves at 11:30am.
For CNX-BKK, I have two choices, both on Thai Airways International.
The early one arrives BKK at 8:10am (3+ hour layover).
The later on arrives at 9:40am (layover 110 minutes).
Travel agent says 120 minutes is required for a domestic-to-international connection at BKK.
Will I have a problem with the 110 minute layover?

redburgundy...based on my personal experience, I will personally choose the 3 hrs layover. Here are my reasons.
1. Domestic Terminal and International Terminal are quite a distant by foot. You will have to walk fast and may even have to run if your flight from Cheing Mai is not on time when arriving BKK.
2. You will have to go through immigration and passport control at the international terminal when you arrive from Chieng Mai and prior to departure for Cambodia.
3. Only one hour could mean a lot if things do not go right on the way to BKK.
4. Arriving BKK at 8:10 is not so bad, just go grab some Thai food for breakfast (I assume you are not Thai) if your flight from Chieng Mai arrives BKK on time.

When I flew CNX-BKK on a morning flite a couple of months ago the flite was at least 30 minutes late departing CNX. I think some pax were delayed coming through immigration or something, I believe the aircraft arrived from China. I would NOT chance a short connection at BKK, it's not worth the risk.
