Does anyone know how easy (or difficult) is a transfer at MXP? We'll arrive on Alitalia from MIA and depart on Alitalia to Istanbul.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Does anyone know how to get from MXP to LIN? What is the best way to get there?

I'll be flying from US to Milan via Frankfurt in June. There are plenty of connections, using United SFO FRA and then to MXP, and one that works from LIN on the return leg. I didn't check the price differnce, if any. Is LIN easier? I've read it is closer.
When I was last in Italy and flew into FLR, arriving was OK, departing was very strict about carry-on. Does a smaller airport hassle more?

MXP-LIN transfer
http://www.airwise.com/airports/europe/MXP/
and better, here:

I would presume this trip to take over an hour. A cab will cost around €100.
Small airport hassle more?
I have had hassles at FLR recently, but none at VCE,BLQ, or MXP
I would have to be saving a lot to go to LIN and transfer to MXP. If LIN is in the strike mode, and MXP is not, I think you will have a lot of hassles.

Between MXP and LIN, which airport is easier (faster, less trouble) to get to from the train station (train from Florence)?
Thanks.

For MXP: Your Florence train will arrive/depart at Stazione Centrale (Central Station). Using the frequent nonstop express busses, the trip between Centrale and MXP could not be easier, since the bus service runs door-to-door - the only challenge is to allow suffucient time, as MXP is WAY out in the boondocks :)
The express train to and from MXP (the Malpensa Express) does not go to Centrale - it goes to another station, Cadorna. To get from Cadorna station to Centrale station, you would need to switch to the subway (Metropolitana). IIRC it's about seven stops on one of the subway lines from Cadorna to Centrale. The advante of the bus is that no transfer is involved.

Linate is much, much closer to downtown Milan than Malpensa.
Cab from LIN to the Milan train stations is cheaper and much faster than from MXP. But from MXP to the Central Station is a frequent dedicated non-stop bus which is only €4.50; and IIRC it is scheduled to take 45 minutes (even though I always budget it for 60-75).
If on a budget, I'd fly into/out of MXP due to the cheaper reliable transport between the airport and the central train station.

Cost doesn't matter too much, as we're not talking about huge amounts of money here. Therefore, it sounds like LIN is the way to go.
This is off-topic for this forum, but if I have an economy ticket on BA from MXP/LIN to LHR, and an F ticket for the same day from LHR to the US, will I have lounge access in MXP/LIN?

If you can show your LHR-US boarding pass to the BA staff at MXP -- that is if BA in Italy will thru-check you -- then you're definitely going to get access. Even without being thru-checked, if BA lounge staff pull up your onward booking details -- and usually they will do so for me at the MXP BA lounge -- then you'll get access too.

Thanks for the reply. I had completely forgotten about my QF club membership that will get me into the BA lounges. Everytime I've flown BA over the last few years I have had lounge access just with my ticket, so no QF club card needed. But the card is certainly good to have so that situations like these leave even less to chance.

The QF club card in conjunction with any BA flight will work at the MXP BA lounge. You can even log into FT from one of the three PCs there (it's actually at least 4). :)
