You know those guys behind the desks (the desks that you might easily mistake for info booths). I have noticed that they always begin by saying, "Excuse me, can I ask you a question?"

(Must be some requirement that we must give permsission for them to talk with us.)

As I am not interested in their "stuff," yet I don't want to ignore them, here is how our conversion goes:

Them: "Excuse me... can I ask you a question?"

Me: "Well, you just did" (by asking a question to ask a question).

Stumps them every time!

Sometimes I ignore them, or just say I'm in a hurry, which is often truly the case. In fact, I've grown so used to just passing by, that to this day, I have no idea what exactly these solicitors are trying to solicit...

At least they're not "in your face," like at LAX.

I have been "accosted" by these solicitors on more than one occasion. In my opinion, this type of loitering ought not be permitted in this environment, though I am sure constitutionally they have the right.

I've found that a straight, simple "No" followed by walking on seems to work.

That works for me too.

Most of the time, I try to walk closer to the check-in barriers and stay away from the doors and their booths.
