I'm coming into SJC around 11am but am meeting a friend who is getting into SFO around 2:30pm. Any thoughts on transportation (preferably cheap!) from SJC to SFO?

There is scheduled bus service by the South Bay Flyer. It is used by UA as a codeshare service also. http://www.landyacht.com It costs about $20.

A cab would be really expensive. The door to door vans can also take you there, but they may have so many stops in between that you might not make it in time.

Another possibility would be Caltrain. You would have to take the free VTA 10 bus to the Santa Clara train station and then get off at the Burlingame station and take a free shuttle to SFO. Schedules can be found at http://www.caltrain.com.

I think I may go ahead and try Caltrain. It looks like VTA 10 runs every 10 minutes from SJC to the Santa Clara station. It looks like it'll take an hour from the Santa Clara station to Millbrae (where the free shuttle is, supposedly) with a train scheduled every 30 minutes. The shuttle from the Millbrae station to SFO looks to run every 15 minutes or so. Overall cost is $3 ($4 full fare minus $1 for a "One-Way Weekday Discount"). Not bad!

Thanks for the pointer, SFOJFK!
