I'm coming back from Frankfurt next Sunday and have a long layover. I've never been in terminal 5 or customs in ORD. I'm planning to meet my son for lunch during the layover. How much time is reasonable to get thru customs (I just have a carryon and briefcase) ?
Also, is pickup at Terminal 5/Intl easy?
If this falls thru, how much time does it take to get from terminal 5 to term 3 (it looked like a shuttle on a quick glance at the map).
I have an evening flight on AA from Terminal 3.

The airport transit train runs about every 5 minutes (depends on time of day) and once you board the train, it is only a matter of a couple of minutes to terminal 3. I don't know if you plan on eating in terminal 3 but all of the eating establishments are past security so you must be a ticketed passenger to get through.

As for customs, assuming you are a US citizen based upon your profile, my experiences have been that customs at O'Hare clears fairly quickly. Now that being said, when I go through again in a couple of weeks, I will surely have to wait quite a while!
