I used the SIN Transit Hotel happily for an overnight layover (SFO-SIN, then onto KUL in the morning).
Can I do it in reverse? I want to arrive at the airport at night and sleep there for a 7am UA flight.... but will I be able to get into the area for the Transit Hotel? What if I do not yet have a boarding pass?
Thanks! The thought of staying off-airport and trying to make such an early flight frightens me!

Unless you have a boarding pass, with which you can access the 'air-side' of the terminal, and thus the transit hotels, it is not possible to do what you wish. Other s have suggested purchasing a refundable ticket, accessing the terminal then refunding the ticket.
Personally, if I were staying in SIN (and not transiting), I would just stay at my hotel in town. Set the alarm for 04:30, catch a cab at 05:00 and arrive at Changi at 05:15.

Ok, now I understand what I need to do...
Essentially, if I get off my plane from, say, Bangkok, arrive late in the evening, eat at the airpot, etc., etc., but do NOT clear customs/immigration, I should be fine... The idea is NOT to mistakenly enter Singapore!
I am correct, yes?
Thanks!

So this is pretty confusing to me.
I'm coming in on SQ (T2) at about 1705 and leaving the next morning on UA (T1) at about 0700. I will not have a boarding pass for the UA flight (and probably won't be able to get one till morning).
Ideally I'd like to dump my stuff somewhere (probably just a 22" carryon), go have dinner and hang out a bit in Singapore, come back around 11 pm or so, and buy one block in the transit hotel in T1 to get a little sleep before my UA flight in the morning.
Is this possible?
So I guess there are two questions:
(1) Will the transit hotel let me store my stuff or will they make me check in immediately after arriving in SIN?? I guess if I have to buy two blocks at the transit hotel, I might as well go into the city and stay somewhere there.
(2) If they do let me do this, will I be able to go out of the airport and come back in to the transit hotel (and can I even get back in w/my UA itinerary?)

kv99, I believe that your best bet would be to "Priceline" a hotel in town for the evening (Marriott/Conrad - $55 USD; Concorde - $34 USD). I do not believe that you will be able to return airside without a boarding pass.
By the way, I misunderstood aroydee's original post, not realizing that he was in transit.

thanks transpac -- I guess that would mean that using the Silver Kris lounge after a night out in SIN would be out of the quesstion as well.

My wife and I and traveling on SQ for 8:15AM, considering going to the airport the night before, getting boarding pass from SQ, and go to stay at transit hotel for the night. Is this possible? Can we clear immigration when we hold tomorrow's flight boarding pass? Can SQ check us in for tomorrow's flight?
Thanks.

Yes. I have done this. Go to the Early Checkin counter in Row 5 of Terminal 2 (or Row 4 if you are Star Alliance Gold). However, the transit hotel can be fully booked upto a week or two in advance, so I suggest you go to http://www.airport-hotel.com.sg/ and book the transit hotel a couple of weeks in advance. They will send you a confirmation email or if they are full for the night, they will tell you so in an email.

I asked this question at the SQ customer service counter for a friend of mine today. If you are on an SQ flight, you can check in your luggage (at checkin Row 2) up to 48 hours before your flight, get your boarding pass, and then either head out to town with your carry-on only or if you're really nuts, spend two nights at the airport :D
A bit late, I know....but I'm sure someone else will find this useful.
