Some friends have suggested that we make a trip to NYC over new years eve. They have not seen the times square/ball drop thing, and even though I have it has been a number of years. Any advice on where to stay? I remember that security was tight getting to the viewing area when I was there, I can only imagine what it will be like this year. We are thinking it would be nice to have a place that we could get out to the street and watch without having to stand outside all day with no restroom, etc. Is this possible.

I do like the idea of supporting NYC tourism at this time, if for no other reason than to make a statement to the terrorists that they cannot change our lifestyle.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I apoligize, I mistakenly thought that I was in the "travel" forum, not the "airports" forum. I have posted this topic there, under the the "new york" sub-forum where it obviously belongs.
