Hi,
I will be flying through LAX, arriving on an AA flight and departing on a UA flight 4 hours later. I'm well aware of the long security problems in T6 & 7, but I thought I read somewhere that T5 is connected to T6, behind the security "firewall"? Is this correct? What about from T4 to T6/7--can one stay behind the security firewall and walk all the way down from T4 to T6/7?
Thanks!

there is an underground between T4, T5 and T6. it is in the middle of the termial, about gates 64/65 in T6 and comes out at about 55 in T5. i have never gone any futher, but it does go to T4

then between T6-T7-T8 you can walk from concourse to concourse without leaving security. So it is possible to get from T4 to T8 without leaving the secure zone.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your answers! I hadn't realized there was a tunnel running under the middle of the concourses--I had thought the only way to go between terminals would be along the street (but behind the security firewall, if that make sense?). I took a quick look at LAX's web site and I see what you were talking about.

Thanks everyone! That should make things much easier!

I last made the walk from United's Red Carpet Room to American's terminal 4 back in April. FT'er Jailer was with me, and he had no idea the tunnels existed, after living his whole life in LA. Give yourself 15-20 minutes (it definitely takes longer then walking outside, discounting security issues). The tunnels are not attractive by any means, but it is something unique to do.

You might also have a case of deja vous. The tunnels have been used as backdrops in many old TV shows and movies.

I wonder if today's evacuation of T4 through T8 will prompt closure of the very practical tunnels connecting these terminals behind security. Probably the tunnels are needed by the staff; otherwise they probably would have been closed already.

The tunnels have been closed.

I wonder how long this will last as AA(primarilt T4) has some flights in T5, and DL(primarily T5) in T6. But they are leaving the United walkways open, between T6&T7.

I just walked from T4 to T6 through the tunnels yesterday (Friday) evening.
