Effective January 1, you’ll pay a $10 “customer facility charge” whenever you rent a car from an on-airport firm located at Los Angeles International or Ontario International.

This includes your mom's when she's in town.

Taxes are getting out of control. Please write your representative asking to repeal this tax. Next thing you know, it will be a normal thing in all airports around the nation, just like the it-increases-every-year $1.50, then $3.00, now $4.50 "passenger facility charge".

The kicker: Airport authorities say the surcharge will help build a consolidated car-rental facility at LAX and a system of common-use rental shuttles on airport grounds. Now, aren't car-rental companies paying rent??

This sucks! $10 is way too much, under any circumstances... Travelers are always paying through the nose in so called taxes and charges, hate it! LAX should be ashamed.

I also loathe the common rental car facility as then you lose the personal touch of the individual company, like National Emerald servcie, which I love!, takes you right to your car... the common areas are doing away with that... watch later they will charge you a fee, like the stupid hotel buses at London Heathrow do. UGH!
