Just booked tix to go and see my mum @ Xmas, LHR-IAD-SWF (booked on united.co.uk). First time ever at IAD, and noticed that the LHR flight arrives @ 11.35, and the SWF flight leaves @ 12.35. Our bags will be checked through, but we will still need to clear immigration and customs at our first port of entry, so one hour seems kinda tight.
Anyone cast any light on how tight this is going to be - does UA use one terminal for both international and domestic flights, or are we going to have to get our running shoes on...
thx

Bring running shoes. I don't think your luggage is checked through. You will deplane in mid terminal, be people mover moved to the main terminal, go through immigration, and pick up your luggage, go through customs, check your bags just outside customs, go upstairs, go through the search group, catch a peoplemover, and go back to mid terminal.

At least that is what some of the crowd is doing. There is a group that does some transfers, and they get on a different people mover. They still have to go through customs and immigration, unless quarenteened to go to another country.

To answer your other question, most UA leaves from the same terminal, but some of the small stuff is walk to from the main terminal.

Post your question in the UA board. I always get off at IAD.

There are threads for this on the UA board if you search IAD and immigration, etc.

thanks guys - I'm so used to people getting their asses chewed for posting in the wrong forum, I thought I'd best post here, even though it's real dusty and *cough, cough* there's a load of cobwebs over in the corner http://www.flyertalk.com/airports/ftairports_forum/smile.gif
