Has anyone else encountered the new baggage sizers in FRA? I was wondering if anyone had an exact guess on what that sizing was, my standard 22inch carryon didn't make it at all! I need to pick up a new one to fit, any suggestions?

I've had trouble with my 22" roller and Lufthansa in the past. I don't think it fits in their shell, and they seem to have a lighter weight limit. Is the size issue new at Frankfurt, or with any Lufthansa city?

Brand new at FRA! Security just put in hardcore sizers in the last 6 weeks, doesn't matter whats class of service you're flying!

Allowed sizes are
Hand luggage : 55 x 40 x 20 cm
Clothes bag : 57 x 54 x 15 cm
Sorry for the cm !
I think, 55 cm = about 18 inches ?

Recently went through FRA and noticed the sizers at the hall B security entrance, but there were none at the hall C entrance. Maybe they had yet to install them in hall C. Hopefully they never will. http://www.flyertalk.com/airports/ftairports_forum/smile.gif

Thanks, I'll be there in 10 days. Are they weighing luggage, too? What's the weight limit? I seem to remember 7kg, but I've only seen it enforced once (British Midland at Edinburgh; nasty airline/nasty airport).

The weight limit for carry-ons on LH is 8 kg, I have been asked occasionally to place my carry-on on the scale at check-in... it helps if you look like you could lift it with just a finger...

LH checks the size, but not often the maximum weight (8 Kg).
I use a very slim "Mandarina Duck" hand luggage, with 12-15 Kg (!), that can easily be stored under the seat (for security reasons).
Right, Mizu, I lift it with one finger and a smile at check-in if they want to see it http://www.flyertalk.com/airports/ftairports_forum/smile.gif

Luckily I've never had to get my carry-on weighed!
My last trip was F Class FRA-SFO. I had 2 carry-ons. The FA helped me up the stairs with one. I know it weighed way more than 8 kg. But no one said a word. Guess Full Fare First gets you that. http://www.flyertalk.com/airports/ftairports_forum/frown.gif
But they did have the sizers.

This is not too bad. Nobody's weighing anything and my 18" bag gets throught with lots of room to spare. My 22" is doomed to stay at home from now on, but I saw this coming a long time ago.
Between you and your flight are two baggage sizers, the one your bag goes through in the X-ray machine and a cage near the boarding area. You only get put in the cage if your bag is obviously too large.

May be not so in FRA in the future!?
FRA is having a new system testing (IT'S STILL ON TEST!).
The airport authority - not the airline - checks the hand baggage when you enter the concours. If and when the baggage is to heavy or doesn't fit the sizer, they send you all the way back to check-in the baggage!

We're flying FC on UA out of FRA. Does anyone know the carry-on size restrictions that will apply?

Same as everybody else stated above.
Do you really expect the security personal hired through a subsidary of the port authority to care about your airline or your class of service?

Tickets are in my hand for LH and state ; 55x40x20cm / 22x16x9 inch max. 8 kg
or 57x54x15cm / 22x21x6 inch max. 8kg foldable garmet bag.
Last time we were asked to check our carryons my wife went crazy & told the attendant her lotions & perfumes& everything would explode !!! She let her go..( smart lady , I let her have her way too !)

Hello again,
New day new measurements !! I called LH upon my wifes request just to double check,& the 800 girl said a total of 45 inches. Then asked for the measurements she said 22x16x8. I then said that equals 46" so she said thats close enough!!
My wife is not too impressed as she believes they will try to check her carryon because of 1" .I guess to some people 1" isn't that much..
