View Full Version : Wheelchair access in London and Wales?

Kremmen and I were unable to resist the temptation of the cheap UA flights to LHR, so we're heading off for a week in the UK. We'll be staying in the London Bridge area for a couple of nights and then we're driving to Wales to visit friends.

This will be my first trip to Europe. I've been warned by non-disabled friends that access is likely to be challenging. I've conacted the folks at the tube, who are sending updated underground and bus accessibility information (the tube map on-line is dated 2002).

Does anyone here have any advice regarding accessibility in London and the Cardiff area? Any special tricks to getting around? Does anyone happen to know of an accessible, and not terribly expensive, London city tour?

Thanks!

the tube is likely to be a challenge. Not all stops have elevators, if you're traveling during peak times the elevators are often jammed . do you know whereabouts you might like to go?

That part I knew...

...but that part I didn't--will definitely keep it in mind!

The only thing we have on our "must do" list is to ride The Eye. Otherwise, a little sightseeing, a very little shopping, and food, of course http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/smile.gif.
