We were thinking of staying at this hotel in their club level and would like some additional information on the services offerred. Thank you.

This is my favorite club of all the R-C's I've been to. As with the other clubs, there are five food "presentations"; the ones here tend to be more lavish: breakfast (pastries, great fruit, cereals, smoked salmon, bagels, etc., and they'll even make you a latte), lunch (small sandwiches and a couple of salads), tea (strawberries, cream, pastries), cocktails (hors d'ouevres and caviar), and after dinner cordials and desserts. The club concierges are excellent and will do the same things that the concierges downstairs do. You can also check out there if you like. The club room is very comfortable, though it can get crowded. The rooms on the two club floors do vary quite a bit, and some are clearly better than others.

Have stayed there many times. It's an outstanding Club level with excellent concierge service. There is food service all day long. Lavish breakfast buffet with the usual fruit juices, but also fresh fruit, pastries, breads, a toaster, fine selection of cheeses, cold cuts, smoked salmon. Plus, they will go in the back and prepare a fresh capppucino. Also, NYtimes, WSJ, LA Times and the local papers. Particularly nice is that they provide a good-sized tray in your room, so one can go to the lounge and bring breakfast back to the room. Around 11:00 AM, they begin the snack service (no reason to have lunch as the snack is so bountiful). They offer little sandwiches, stuffed eggs, pates, vegetables, dessert and, of course, beverages of all types are available throughout the day(the alcoholic beverages are all the finest brands) The snack service is followed by the tea service, which then is followed by the cocktail hour(s)--more on that later. Late evening it is dessert, chocolates and cordials. Now--for the bad news. When the RC initially opened, the Club lounge was quite a serene place. I believe that it was available to guests staying on one floor--gradually, it has evolved to 3 floors (& the club has not been enlarged). Thus, it is often difficult to find seating and one is forced to take his food and drink back to the room. They do a caviar service for one hour each day (I believe it is from 6:00-7:00). The wait in line can sometimes be very very long. Another thing to watch for--some of the rooms are smaller than rooms on the non-club floors. I was shocked to see that my son, who was not staying on the Club level had a room that was twice the size of mine. When I inquired as to the disparity, was told to specifically request a street-view room as those are the largest ones (I can't recall the room numbers), but I'm sure that you can find out. Thus, on my subsequent visits I have specifically asked for the street-side and received the much larger room. The hotel is a wierd shape and some rooms can be very far from the lounge (down one hall, then another, etc.). So, request a room near the lounge, if possible. One nice thing about the Club is that if you arrive early and your room is not ready, they will take your bags, you can have the refreshments and they offer good bathroom facilities. All in all, I think the difference in price is worth it. Once you have stayed at the Ritz Carlton Club in S.F., you can't imagine staying elsewhere. I do get a little tired of their constantly saying "my pleasure" instead of "thank you"--but guess that is just company policy.
