Now that I have your attention, I am beginning to wonder about this forum. We haven't seen any posts in the past three days and I'd hate to see some of these topics die.

Recently we have a fabulous trip report (by yours truly)

Talks about delta crown room domestic partner benefits

Some great advice on london

Are we missing some topics that people want to hear about? I'd like to have some more people post topics about where they are going and what they know about places. I find it hard to believe that we aren't travelling this summer.

So this post is to encourage participation, gay/straight/transgendered or otherwise.

Sure we are travelling. But me and my bf will take the car this summer in stead of a plane. And as this is a flyer forum... :-)

Anyway, I will fly with KLM on 30 June 2002 with an award ticket, one way, back from Paris to Amsterdam in business class, making use of the benefit of a 50% reduction in points that are necessary to fly. I can write a small report there on the "improved" inflight service of KLM in short haul Business class.

Thanks, Catwood.

It started with a bang and now it is starting to loose its postings. I bet their are a lot of lurkers. I also think that many are basking in the sun this time of year.

Your suggestion for trip reports is a great one as long as they have a GLBT theme to them. When I go to the GLBT board I want some "G" in it. Loved yours by the way.

I will give a trip report from this weekends trip to hip and happenin' Portland, OR. It's Pride so that means a better polyester to plaid ratio.

Chris,

Good point, glad you started this thread. I'd also hate to see this forum die.

Was at Gay Disney as well, going over now to check out your report.

Upcoming travel plans: Montreal, June 17/18 (without the partner in tow, yeehaw!)

London for Mardi Gras, July 4-8.

I will be in Toronto first week of July for a gay square dance convention... imagine 1100 men & women in one fabulous hotel! I am traveling with a friend - upgraded first thru ORD. Anyone else from here going?

Hey Gang!

Has anyone else decided to take the plunge and go for the Inside Flyer - Starwood - Qantas - BA Concorde thingy?

The growling sound is my stomache turning over nervously after shelling out $1300 for magazine subscriptions. But I am a Concorde enthusiast and I've always said I'd fly the old girl before she's retired, so this looks like that some day.

Is anyone else going for it too? And, while I'm on the subject, anyone else here flown on it? I'm wondering how my big butt will fit in those "sleek, sportcar seats." Erk! http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/smile.gif

Well, maybe I'll get lucky and the seat next to me will be free. Does it usually travel fully packed? Will I have to squish up against some cute male model?

I flew on the Concorde (BA) about 5 years ago using US miles when US and BA were still partners. Seats are not real spacious but are approximately the size of the domestic F on most airlines at least for pitch but may be a bit narrower. They have changed the seats with the recent renovations but I'm sure the dimensions have not changed. I traveled JFK-LHR on a Sat and the load was very light, about 25%, return LHR-JFK was on a Tues, load was about 60%. I had the seat next to me free both ways. Most passengers seem to be older men. Although on the return there was a female model, whose bag did not make the connection from Geneva. Speaking of which my bag on the return took a detour to Dubai.

We can cross-post non-GLBT related trip reports or cross-post and expound on the gay aspect of the trip.

Also... I think it would be a nice idea to start a new thread for each trip report. Posting trip reports under this thread may loose some readers since the subject title has nothing to do with GLBT Trip Reports.

Just a thought.

I just found Flyertalk last weekend and am staying up far too late reading back posts. It really brings out the mileage queen in me. Took the plunge and bought 19 IF subscriptions(and using some previous *wood point) to fly Concorde. Had been saving my DL FF miles for a ride on AF Concorde but excited to find the BA deal as I heard thier Concorde service is better. Turning 30 this summer, so it's my B-day present to myself.

I agree..but i'd rather not cross post my trips to trip reports..its not something I advertise at work..and i've gotten a lot of people on FT.

I think alot of people may be disappointed with the forum because they feel the need to be inhibited in their posts. I think we all understand the necessity of being so, however. For example, Chris, someone emailed me privately, lamenting the fact that your trip report left out details of the trip to Parliament House. Having had a private conversation (via email) with you, I know you would have been willing to spill the beans privately, and I encouraged him to email you.

I wonder what details he was interested in? He can certainly email me, and I may just amend my trip report. I think my motivational speech has gotten some additional activity in here, maybe we can look to start some interesting topics and see what happens. So if you have something on your mind..post it!

My partner, sister and I will travel on Concorde in a little less than 2 weeks for our upcoming trip to London and Paris. I'm quite excited about the flight but even more so in that it didn't cost us a cent for all three tickets, having taken advantage of the DC - BA promotion last year.

Oh boy.

At the risk of being inflamitory, can I suggest something? Just relax about this forum! It's no big deal if there aren't any new threads for a few days. Take a look at the Women's forum for example. It has been in existence longer that the GLBT forum and has much few threads and post as this group.

What all Flyertalkers have in common is that we travel frequently. There are groups among us that have unique requirements and experiences based on our gender or preferences that sometimes need a unique outlet.

I'd suggest that you don't try to push activity here just to create traffic, rather infuse the group with meaningful or fun discussions as they occur and are relevant outside of the general traveling community or are of specific interest to GLBT community.

Enjoy.

Very cool. Well it looks like I'm going to have to get another bunch of subscriptions - my 73 year old mother turns out to be a concorde nut<BS><BS><BS>enthusiast too.

It looks like we'll do Vancouver to JFK on AA first class, stop over for a few days, then do JFK-LHR on concorde, spend a few days in London, then connect on to CDG for a few days in Paris (an extra 10,000 miles for a second stopover) then back to LHR, to JFK via concorde, and then perhaps on to MSY on AA as a second stop over in the first ticker. Or MCO - she always wanted to see epcot. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/smile.gif

michswiss: Great post! I agree 100%.

Raffy, hope you have a great time in my adopted city (you live in my original city). I am gone from June 21 to July 6 - will we miss one another? If you have any questions, feel free to ask/e-mail. Enjoy Concorde!
