Does anyone in this forum have a current b/f, girlfriend, ex b/f, ex g/f, partner, best friend, etc that is also a frequent reader/poster in Flyertalk?
I've noticed I have converted someone to FT, it is rather amusing. Do I get a toaster?

Yes, you should. I've told people about Flyertalk and they've all looked at me like I have two heads or told me that I was crazy.

my better fifth thinks that i take "all that mileage stuff" and "all that travel planning stuff way too seriously."
i finally made her get an AAdvantage account and she idly wonders why she can't just give me the miles.
i think i'm not gettin' a toaster on this one. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/wink.gif

The trouble for me sharing this site with a future ex-Mrs Comicwoman is that she would learn way too much about me too soon. I mean, really, how am I going to explain the fact that Punki and I are almost-nearly-engaged?
While I have actually dated a few women with more miles than me, I only share my knowledge with them and not the board. It might be selfish, but I don't want someone I used to date following my comings and goings on FT. And I don't need another toaster oven.
it's funny; i acually only know all of two other people on this board.
one was my roommate from undergrad at Smith, who introduced me to FT.
the other is the man who feeds my head with mileage run ideas.
i don't worry about my comings and goings so much as that i'm sure my wife would see it as excessively enabling. just like i keep my nose out of that anime stuff she's into, she keeps her nose out of my silly mileage runs and those one night in Seattle things. it's all perfectly innocent stupid fun all around, but i think that i much prefer miles to an ever-growing pile of videotapes.
oh yeah. my wife/partner/whatever's father is on FT, too. she says he's obsessed also. no wonder we get along so well. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/smile.gif

One of my colleagues (and a friend as well) started reading over my shoulder while I posted on FT and chatted on FT Chat.
Eventually, she started wanting to chime in on the conversation so I made her get her own handle. And now she chimes away! http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/biggrin.gif

That must be Mademoiselle Peaches! Thanks for that, she seems quite nice.
I only have one friend so far that I've tried to convert to FT, but she has problems with the keyboard (she's a pink hippo) and usually tries to post when she's had too much Champagne ... I've got her on training wheels right now over at Tarom. One day ...

Bibimonamour,
Hya is far too GLAM to worry about miles status, she has a staff to take care of that for her so she can spend more time on important things like champagne and shopping at LaDuree

Chrsi, when I first read your friend's trip report I did notice the word "partner" and wondered if that menat he was "one of the boys" (or, indeed, girls - no gender was mentioned).
I often find myself wondering such things when reading trip reports when people are dicrete with the genders.
Stephen
PS I haven't converted anyone to Flyertalk (have coverted to the other theme of this particular room before but that's another story!!) and I hope my boss doesn't realise that I spend so much time at work on here!!!

Everytime I've 'come out' to a friend about FT, I usually get a laugh.
But you should see their faces when they hear of my (winning) exploits! http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/biggrin.gif
1. Award travel on partner airlines.
2. $25 W Times Sq. rate.
3. Hilton Gold Challenge
4.
I can keep on going. But everyone here gets it! http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/biggrin.gif

My wife too thought I was nuts until she realized that we fly in F EVERYWHERE. Her father is a travel nut (but not an FTer and it may be better that way, I don't need anyone knowing when a 'business trip' is really a mileage run) and *HE* flies mostly coach, even international. That helped to ease my marital understanding quotient but what really did it is the upcoming $25/night rate at MSY. I'm sending her and her girlfriends for a night and they're beyond excited about it... now she only laughs at me a little. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/wink.gif
