So we have the skinny on San Diego...
I am going to Dallas this weekend (only Saturday night) and want to know what the best club and/or bar is. If I know ahead of time it will decrease my research and guess time.
Are most of the bars/clubs in the prominently gay area?
Where is a fun place for Sunday brunch?
Thanks for you help!

Well you can always do what I did. I was there for work and people in the office took me to Hooters for dinner, a Mavericks game, and a straight strip club. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/rolleyes.gif

Take your boots and head to Oaklawn!
Head to the Roundup just down Cedar Springs from Throckmorton "the Crossroads." If you don't know how to dance, then just watch the boys go by. Weekends are not for learners.
Cross the street and head to JR's for the white collar/preppy crowd. Around the corner is TMC, the Throckmorton Mining Club. It used to be very very dark there (with several wedding rings on the floor), but they did a remodel and it is quite open. Head to the balcony to look down on the boys at the dance floor.
If you want to look at "professional" dancers, walk down Cedar Springs about half a block to Moby Dicks. Don't forget Dallas is a "no touch" city. Well, at least the important parts--like the aqua netted hair!
Any of the Cafe Brazil's are good for Sunday Brunch. There is one on Cedar Springs on the other edge of the strip.
Parking is really bad there, so think about taking a cab there and finding a ride home.
I would go to JR's if I hit only one bar and did not know how to 2 step. Head upstairs on the deck if you want the less smoky scene.
It's been a while since I lived in Dallas, but Village Station was always where we were 2-3 times a week. It's enormous with 2 floors, a huge dance floor, a two-level outside patio, the rose room for drag shows, and it was always the best time.
The Round Up is a sight to behold! Boys Two-Stepping in their starched jeans and hats. It's a must-see.
JR's is at one end of the strip of clubs anchored by the Village Station and has the absolutely most adorable preppy/frat/boy next door types you've ever seen in one spot. I do think it's become the main hot spot.
Naturally, Sue Ellens is at the other end of the strip, and caters to a much more masculine crowd, the ladies.
For one night, you'll keep yourself very busy at all of these places all on Cedar Springs just off of Oak Lawn Avenue.
There was another cluster of bars off of Central Expressway, and every Tuesday night was the strongest drinks in town at the Crew's Inn (The drinks were AMAZINGLY strong). I beleive there's nothing much happening there any night but Tuesday.
I highly recommend the Melrose hotel for those of you planning future trips to Dallas as it is right at the corner of Cedar Springs and Oak Lawn and you can walk to everything on the strip. It had a seedy past (I'm quite certain I remember running down the halls naked long ago http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/redface.gif ), but they have really turned it in someplace charming and fun.
I agree about Cafe Brazil for Sunday Brunch, and you have to grab a burger at Hunky's for me! TMC used to have a Sunday afternoon tea-dance with food, but I never made it up that early on Sunday http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/smile.gif
Final bit of advice for going out in Dallas. You can't be too ready to go out. We ironed everything, including our T-Shirts before going out, and even then, we kept checking in the mirror to make sure nothing had gone awry.
The city has an incredibly self-conscious vibe, and you can go out in casual attire, but it should be a contrived casual that's clear you worked at it. (Hey! I'm just giving the facts here, I know my hometown) http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/smile.gif
If you see Jasper at JR's tell him Rob sends a huge kiss!

Lime is also a fun bar to hang out at. It's also on Cedar Springs. Cute interior. Good drinks. There was some pretty fun music while I was there. One night we ended up staying there most of the night and then headed off to another club (Club One, maybe?) much later in the evening.
But Lime is definitely a see-and-be-seen crowd (not that that's a bad thing! http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/smile.gif ).
