As VP of On-Broad Activities, I would like to remind all of you the upcoming Chicago event. Specifically, the TAROM Dinner (board of directors, other employees, our one passenger, anyone who is GLAM, and those that are GLAM-friendly) on Friday May 31, 2002. I have not determined the restaurant yet...it somewhat depends on the number of attendees. Suggestions are welcome.

I can't confirm until much closer in (the busy life of an airline VP, ya know), but I'll do my best to make it. Mojitos are on me if I make it.

After my medical release from boot camp, it looks as if I could make it to ORD for this GLAM event. Can anyone please recommend a nice and affordable hotel (TAROM doesn't pay as much as I'd like for a GLAM lifestyle)??

Oh, I always thought GLAM meant Gay, Lesbian And Magnificent, but of course, it is rather compllicated to be all three at the same time. I am concentrating on Magnificent this week. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/smile.gif

Punki...

GLAM means (This) Goddess (would) Love A Mojito

Why on earth is this thread here anyway?

Is this the same as the first gay FT event happening at the end of May? If so, can the organizers (if any, or anyone else) post the details (itinerary, dates, accomodations, schedule of events, location of events, etc.) here or give a summarized update?

Thanks.

There is 'no gay event' at the end of May. There is, however, a gathering of FlyerTalkers 5/31 - 6/2 in Chicago. The main event is dinner on Saturday, at a place that can handle 80 -100 FTers.

On Friday night, I am hosting (arranging, NOT paying--still underemployed) a dinner for those that are GLAM, those that think they are, and those that wish they were. I have not picked a restaurant yet...waiting to see how many will be attending. Suffice it to say, it will be a gay friendly place.

Thanks Comic.

I thought there was a gay FT event on Memorial Day weekend? Or, has that been cancelled (yet again). So, when/where is the first gay FT event?

Never met a GLAM member who was 'under'employed. :-) Can non-GLAM members attend too?

The general FT event sounds like one big drinking fest. Or, are there other events planned?

Globeflyer, Bear Pride and IML are in Chicago Memorial Day Weekend. Apparently, quite a few Flyertalkers will be attending that too and maybe getting together for brunch on Saturday, as I understand it. Other than that I don't think there is any organized FT event THAT weekend.

Comicwoman,
I will be attending (though I havent confirmed on the main thread) the Chicago event with another FT'er and my gay friend from NYC. My gay friend and I will be arriving late on Friday (930p). Are there any plans after the dinner? Maybe I can give someone my cell number.

Also, since you are a local, my FT friend's (she's the "M" in GLAM) b-day is that weekend and we will be doing our own Sunday brunch. She is young (if I post her age she would kill me). What would you suggest? We are staying at the Hyatt and would like some place fun but nice.

Thanks for you help!

Brunch suggestions...if you have time to get up to Lakeview (Boystown) Buddy's offers a good Sunday brunch. Also Ann Sather's is a local favorite. If you need white table cloths, than many of the downtown hotels will fit your needs. The Hotel Allegro claims to have a fine brunch.

But I have not brunched at ANY of the above, though I have dined at the first two.

I am planning to organize a brunch during the weekend of IML, probably at they Hyatt (for convenience to those of us who are going). I'll post a notice when the time gets closer, maybe mid or late April.

Comicwoman, Hmmm I've never heard the offerings (and yes, I'm referring to the food) at Buddy's referred to as "dining." http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/smile.gif

If the restaurant does not have a drive thru, I call it dining.

I stand corrected. Now that I think of it, they even say "will you be dining in?" at Wendy's (Dave's daughter, that is).
