I am planning a 2003 visit to Baltimore and D.C. Will arrive via air and depart via Amtrak. Would like to spend a few days in D.C. and also catch an Orioles game. I am looking for a hotel near BWI close to the public transit. Does anyone have recommendations? Hotel preferences are Hilton, Marriott, and Starwood in that order. Would appreciate any input. Thanks!

From the airport, there is a shuttle to the BWI train station. The MARC and AMTRAK both stop there. Both go to DC and Balt.

There is a Light Rail service from the airport to downtown Balt.

The Starwood property is the only hotel on BWI property, and it is probably too far to walk to get to the airport proper. You would have to use the hotel shuttle. My experience with the Sheraton has been extremely fine response with their shuttle.

I don't know where the Hilton or Marriot are located, but they have got to be further from the airport.

Only Hilton in Baltimore proper (not by BWI) is the Doubletree by Johns Hopkins (Inn at Colonnade) which is a ways north of the city (nice hotel - decent Gold VIP recoqnition but very inconvenient to public transportation though there may be a bus). It does have a shuttle bus that goes to town and the waterfront area.

There are an ES and a HGI in the airport area.
