Hi,
I am visiting Chicago in about 2 weeks for the first time. I have read about the Loop, the main Museums and Uno. Any other special recommendations?

Thanks

If you like Frank Lloyd Wright, spend some time in Oak Park and take a tour of his home and studio there.

The Art Institute is wonderful and has an incredible collection of Monets.

If you love good food, treat yourself to dinner at Charlie Trotter's. Reservations, usually well in advance, required.

If this is the first time to Chicago, I will recommend that you take a guided tour to get an overall impression of the City. You may find additional information on http://www.chicago.il.org

We do this whenever we visit a new large city for the first time. The guides tand to have a vaste amount of information and suggestions for short and long stays in the city.

Enjoy your stay in Chicago

Hopefully it will be a sunny Fall day.

If you are active, rent a bike and go for a bikeride along the lakefront.

If not, just take a walk.

A nice beginning point is Buckingham fountain (it's still going) south past Adler Planetarium and Shedd Aquarium.

A tip if you are renting bikes. See which way the wind is blowing and head into the wind on the first leg of your trip. Makes the return a whole lot easier!!! http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/smile.gif I do a ride from Wilson Ave (far northside) to MCormick convention center and back at least once a month. Never get tired of the views.

Take a boat tour. The view from the lake and river is a nice different angle on the city.

IMO, I liked the Cows on Parade, not crazy about the furniture thing.

Drinks at night at the top of the Hancock building is always nice. don't bother w/the meals. Not a good value for the quality.

Currently, the Art Institute has the Van Gogh and Gaugin exhibit. Very nice if you can get tickets. Did not really care for the Gaugin.
Van Gogh is the man! Great!

Music!! take in some good blues or jazz.
You can't help but get into the music once you're there.

At some point in my lifetime, I hope to be able to recommend that a late-October Chicago visitor go to Wrigley Field to watch a Cubs-Royals game.

Somehow, I doubt it'll ever happen. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/frown.gif
