Anyone have suggestions for good places to eat in the Mystic/casino-strip section of CT? I noticed Todd English has a new restaurant at Mohegan Sun -- any reviews from the FT crowd?

Thanks!

Have you visited the websites? They list all the restaurants and sometimes even the menus.

This reply may come too late to help the original poster, but I just came across this and thought someone else may be able to use the info. The Todd English restaurant is called "Tuscany" and is set beneath a huge fake waterfall. We were there on a Tuesday night and didn't want to wait 45 minutes for a table, so we ate at the bar. The bread was exceptional--fresh, spongey, and lightly flavored with garlic & an herb I couldn't quite place. I ordered a glass of the house beer and was unimpressed; it was very light and basically flavorless. We ordered one of the "flatbreads" (sort of like a pizza) which was okay, but I found that all the grated parmesan on top overpowered the other flavors. The risotto with scallops was quite nice. The woman next to me had ordered a mussels/pasta dish and it looked like the kitchen was very generous with the mussels. I'd definitely go back.

In Mystic, I've had one great experience and one awful experience at Seamen's Inne. Great experience: sitting out on the lawn, watching the sun set, eating a fabulous tuna steak & lobster bisque. Awful: leaving because the band playing on the lawn (if you call 3 college guys with guitars singing REM cover tunes off key a band) was so loud & obnoxious. The dining room inside feels like a big tourist cafeteria. Skipper's Dock is just a few miles down the road in Stonington. You can sit right out on the water and the menu/wine list are both extensive. Great scallops and bouillabaise.

where was I when this topic came up? http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/confused.gif

Anyways, It's been a year and a half since I've been to the Seamen's Inne, but I still think it is/was a great place. http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/thumbsup.gif
Sunday brunch is done quite nicely there as well.

But if you are in the mood for seafood in a picnic, laid-back, atmosphere I highly reccommend Abbott's: Lobster in the Rough. (http://www.abbotts-lobster.com/). Just watch out for the seagulls!

I haven't eaten at the casinos in a while, but I have heard things from friends about Michael Jordan's Steakhouse at the Sun.

The Seamen's Inn is great. But my favorite place to eat in the area (and I lived there for four years) is Paul's Pasta in Groton. It ain't fancy, but there's a view of the Thames river and the prices are exceptionally reasonable.

And check out Rosie's Diner in Groton for the experience. Tuxedos, Truckers, and everything in between.

Good luck at the craps table.

I second Chex's vote for Abbott's. It's BYOB, but that's part of the appeal (as are the seagulls).

fixed typo...

Do any of these suggestions (or others) count as iDine partners? http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttravel_forum/smile.gif
