A settlement was reached Dec. 2 between 3,000 unionized hotel workers of nine Boston properties. The agreement, which gives union employees raises of an average of 5 percent a year for five years, came soon after the hotels abandoned the idea of assigning workers to shifts of fewer than eight hours.
