Nashville suggestions needed!

Looking for mainstream suggestions like Grand Ole' Oprey as well as off the beaten path.

I'm not a country music fan and so have not explored the music scene. There is a mini resteraunt row in downtown Nashville. Franklin, TN has lots of clubs and some are the settings for CMT. Are you looking for anything more specific?

Neither am I really, but a music scene like Nashville has to have some quintessential music or Nashville experiences, that one can find nowhere else.

I can report from my 19 yr old son. He and a friend would go to the downtown area and visit the music clubs. They are more classic rock fans, than C&W. They said that there are a good mixture of clubs. They likes the blues places.

Bourbon Street Blues and Boggie Bar in Printers Alley is a great dive. Short walk from the area known as "the District", where the Wildhorse Saloon and Hard Rock Cafe are located. If you like local brews, across the street from the Hard Rock is Big River. They have occassion live entertainment, good beer, very tasty food, pool tables..

There's also the BlueBird cafe (not downtown) that has live music nightly, with many songwriter's nights, open mike nights for aspiring singer/songwriters. There's no telling who will show up there.

The Grand Ole Opry is back at the Ryman in downtown for another run, rather than at the Opry House by Opryland hotel. If you have a chance to see the Opry at the Ryman, it's much more of a taste of BNA than going to the Opry House, after all, it is the "Mother Church of Country Music".

Franklin has a resturant row like all other towns, with Outback, Cozymels, Shogun, Tony Romas, etc, but go a few extra miles to the Factory in Franklin. This place has a jazz club (sometimes with big bands)-used to be called "Blue Wind" but has recently changed owners so they have a new name, alot of small shops. The Factory also has a big room is sometimes the locale for CMT tapings that are free. Saw Toby Keith at one of those free tapings for CMT's 'All Access' series.
