I'm going to take a four day weekend (Th-Sun) for Thanksgivig w/ Mrs. Dingo. I live in Charlotte so would like to keep it to NC or SC.

My thought was to go to Charleston on Wednesday night and stay at the Charleston Place (www.charlestonplace.com), then have Thanksgiving dinner there as well. We may move on from there, or we may stay at the Ren in Charleston for another night or maybe even the historically lovely Westin.

But, we'd probably move on from there. Driving in the car and seeing sites would be great. Any suggestions for northern NC in terms of places to see or things to do? As a resident, I don't think I take advantage of all there is to do here so might as well start now. Any thoughts on any islands or any place else in SC?

How about Ashville, NC and the Vanderbuilt estate, probable would be decorated w/Christmas items by then.

or head further south along the coast to experience more low country in Beaufort or even Savannah, SC.
