Hey Gang,
Does anyone know anything about Savannah? What should we make sure we do not miss?
Going to be there December 30 - January 2nd.

Just read a message on Frommers that gunpoint robberies are common. The poster said that at the airport they are used to tourists coming with no ID for return flights, just a police report.
I have no further info yet and would appreciate any input.

Most of the eats/drinks type spots are on the river front, kind of hidden away, but there is enough there to be interesting.
If you're interested in "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" you can see a lot of actual sites. Also, one of the squares was where they filmed the bench scenes in "Forrest Gump".

For good eats in Savannah, visit the Flyertalk Dining Forum. http://www.flyertalk.com/dining/ftdining_forum/Forum24/HTML/000015.html
We also enjoyed taking the free ferry across the river to the Westin Savannah. It was nice to have drinks outside and look at the “skyline” of Savannah from across the river.
Instead of the usual river lodging, we stayed in the historic district at a place called 17 Hundred 90. http://www.17hundred90.com/
Things to do:
take a buggy or trolley tour of Savannah to get your bearings. Although Savannah is not that large, it is an easy way to see where things are.
There are many historic homes in Savannah, but my wife and I got saturated of them after we had viewed a few. There are also some forts. And if you saw/read “Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil” Bonaventure Cemetary.
