Mud Island River Park to visit walk around
National Civil Rights Museum
Sun Studio

SW: Hi there! We just went. We did the Platinum Tour at Graceland. I recommend it. We used Blues City Tours as we had no car. Very disorganized and wasted a lot of time. You have a car so just go directly to Graceland. Allow 3 hours. Once was definitely enough for us.
We did use Blues City for a general tour. We were the only ones on the tour and our guide was excellent. One thing included was St. Jude's Hospital for the Danny Thomas exhibit. Interesting.
Loved the Hampton Inn Suites Peabody. Excellent accomodations and staff in the heart of downtown.
See if you can attend a play at the Orpheum. We really enjoyed the theater and especially Mamma Mia.
Beale St. was okay for walking around an hour or so at night. We are not Blues fans, if you are stay longer.
MEM police all over downtown especially at night. It seemed very safe and clean. Trolley is good, frequent and cheap.
Hope this helps!
Thoughts about sights outside Memphis:
If you like Elvis memoriabilia: There is a bizarre and wonderful tribute to Elvis in Holly Springs, MS, about an hour southeast of downtown Memphis. The name of the place is "Graceland Too"---a google search will bring up lot's of information. (Cookie's Fortune was filmed in Holly Springs.)
If you are a fan of Southern authors: William Faulkner's home is located in Oxford, MS, about 75 miles south of Memphis. It would be a long trip if you don't have much time to spare, but it's worth a trip if you like Southern literature.
Hope you have a great trip!
