Need to take my son down for the beginning of the school yr. My first choice, the University Marriot, is of course, sold out. Anyone have any ideas for a decent hotel - not too far from the U. My son will be moving intothe dorm but I will have my 15yr and his girlfriend with me

While it's not exactly close to the U of A, I've stayed at the Hilton Tucson East on several occasions, and would recommend it.

You might want to consider some of their resorts. I think you're aware that many of them here in Phoenix have summer deals--perhaps Tuscon will have some deals as well at this time.

If you are looking for inexpensive with great value, the Holiday Inn properties are under $75, decent sized, clean rooms.

By the way, while there, don't miss Saguaro National Park.

If you are considering a resort I highly recommend the Westward Look Resort. I think their summer rates are around $75. I've stayed all over Tuscon and it's become my favorite. Not too close to the U of A, but not a bad drive either.
